Rob Kirchofer

"Amateur" Pitmaster, Founder and Editor of the BBQ Enthusiast, Rob Kirchofer was raised in the Corn Belt of Omaha, NE. Raised on steak and potatoes, Rob developed a passion for food, and meat specifically, at an early age. "Most of my jobs while in college were directly in or related to the restaurant industry", says Kirchofer. Living in places such as Nebraska, Iowa and even BBQ capital, Nashville, TN, Rob's focus was always on barbecue and the meat industry specifically. Some of Rob's first jobs were in local Steakhouses including the world famous Austin's Steakhouse in Omaha, NE.  Rob's passion for all things barbecue and grilling have lead him to share his love through social media, digital marketing and blogging about his cooking adventures on his website www.theBBQenthusiast.com. Rob has worked with some of the top names in barbecue in his current job at the National Pork Board in Des Moines, IA. Some of the names include four-time BBQ Grand World Champion Chris Lilly, and other world class pitmasters such as Myron Mixon, Moe Cason and Tuffy Stone... just to name a few. In addition, Rob works with national retailers in his current role as National Marketing Manager at the Pork Board. Rob hopes to make his new venture, www.theBBQenthusiast.com a place where people can come to learn and share his passion for barbecue, grilling and meat! Rob currently lives just outside of the state capital in Waukee, IA with his wife, two kids and his trusty Boston Terrier, Frasier.
